Our story

DULCAMARA takes its name from Solanum dulcamara, commonly known as bittersweet nightshade—a plant known for its dual nature. Though toxic, it leaves a sweet aftertaste. Historically, Solanum dulcamara has symbolized fidelity, reflecting its curious combination of intense bitterness and surprising sweetness.

Since ancient Greek times, herbalists have prized this mystical vine for its supposed protective powers. In the Middle Ages, it was believed to ward off witchcraft, often hung around the necks of cattle to protect them from the "evil eye." It has even been linked to ancient rituals, used medicinally and to induce altered states of mind in Anglo-Saxon England.

At DULCAMARA, we’ve deconstructed the essence of this magical plant and transformed its duality into high fashion—melding the fierce with the delicate, the ancient with the modern. Every piece we create embodies this balance, channeling mystery, power, and beauty into wearable art.
